Livermore First was formed in
June 2006 by a group of concerned neighbors and community leaders after
we learned of the proposed Wal Mart Supercenter. We are a coalition of
individuals and organizations working together to preserve the integrity
and character of our city. We want to empower the community through a
collaborative effort to impact appropriate planning in the city of
Livermore.
We live and work in Livermore
because of the high quality of life. While we understand that
development is inevitable, we believe that it must be consistent with
the existing neighborhoods, supportive of other businesses, and that
every resident should have a voice in the local land use planning
process. We want to ensure that accurate information is provided
regarding the impact of proposed major retail development and that the
public has an active role in community decision making. We want to
advise Livermore’s political leaders of the community’s desires and
concerns regarding planning and growth issues.
We believe that the homeowners, taxpayers, and residents
of Livermore come first and that out of town developers and out of town
corporate retailers come second.

The Planning Commission will be voting on a
recommendation to the City Council to approve an amendment to the
Livermore Planning and Zoning Code that would prohibit superstores, like
the one that Wal-Mart wants to build off of Jack London Blvd.
We need your help to tell the Planning Commission to
approve the recommendation!! Wal-Mart will very likely have
representatives and employees there to discourage the commission's
approval, so we need to outnumber them. Let's come together once again
to protect Livermore, and our quality of life! |
